Elise Featherstone (Momma Bear)

Updated: Aug 29, 2019

Who am I? It's a question that I know and I struggle with finding an answer to.

I am Elise, a wife, a mother, a traveller, a woman in business and a person who thrives off of being challenged.

I'm a born and raised Calgarian who participated in a few year stint in Ontario when I was younger, followed by a six month solo stay in Mexico in my early twenties.

I've been travelling since I was born, it's been what I have known and loved since I was a little girl. This may have been my inspiration to work for an airline.

When I first met Devin in our adult life, because we've known each other since we were children, I enjoyed the outdoors but I wasn't aware of the places you could get to on foot. Devin opened my eyes to our backyard, and I opened his eyes to the world.

We were a collection of calm and chaos, yin and yang, intense and subtle. Despite being opposite in so many ways we counterbalance and have a deep appreciation for eachother. Without Devins encouragement I would have never ran my first 10km race. I would never have hiked through Patagonia and without my whimsical nature, he wouldn't have gotten on the airplane.

We introduced Kai to the world on February 7 2016. When Kai was born we committed to each other that we would continue to travel and explore. By the time Kai was one he had been to seven different countries and countless amounts of flights.

I don't want Kai to just see the world because of all of the beautiful places, I want him to see the world and know that there is so much more outside of where we live. I want the world to teach him compassion, respect and graciousness.

Some days are hard, and long but having a child has given me an opportunity to look at everything for the first time, a second time around.

I guess that's me in a nutshell.
